It’s the most wonderful time of the year! (For television fans, anyway.) Tonight is the 71st annual Emmy Awards, the star-studded event that celebrates the best of the small screen year that was before the new Fall season kicks off.

This is pretty much the Super Bowl for those of us who love TV. Just saying. And this year’s ceremony promises to be full of surprises and maybe more than a little controversy.

The Emmy Awards are copying this year’s Oscars ceremony and going without a host, which means that we’ll not only see more celebs, we’ll hopefully be spared most of the awkward politically-themed jokes that tend to pop up at these things.

The big question on everyone’s mind is, of course, about Game of Thrones. The series’ final season snagged a whopping 32 nominations and whether you think they’re all deserved or not, there’s no way the epic fantasy saga won’t snag at least a few Emmy statues in honor of the end of its run. The real question is: How many?

Game of Thrones has some pretty stiff competition in the Best Drama category, though, where it faces Better Call Saul, Bodyguard, Killing Eve , Ozark, Pose, Succession, and This is Us . Will the dragons emerge triumphant? And who will walk away with Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series, where four Thrones women are nominated?

We’ll have to wait and see.
