Assigning astrological signs to the Hogwarts Houses: Why it doesn’t work

facebooktwitterreddit

When you assign Hogwarts Houses to people based on astrological signs, there is a problem because not everyone is the same throughout the zodiac signs. We’re all varied.

I am not a Slytherin and according to the simple zodiac description of the Hogwarts houses, I should identify as such. Which isn’t fair because I don’t think that’s how we all pick our houses to begin with. For one thing, when we all pick up the Harry Potter books for the first time, we end up identifying with a house and thus begins our house pride.

So, for a simple article to call me a Slytherin because I am a Scorpio is a disgrace, a dishonor upon my house, and probably more accurate than me choosing Gryffindor but let me explain my reasoning. For one, I think that we, as Gryffindors, choose to be such because we want to be brave.

On top of that, it shouldn’t be a box we have to fit into. If we’re an Aquarius but we tend to be more reserved and loyal, we should be able to identify as a Hufflepuff without feeling like we’re leaving out a part of ourselves because of some ideal that we’re supposed to understand. For me, our zodiac signs and our Hogwarts houses are two completely different things.

Again, that might be because I don’t agree with mine, but you understand where I’m coming from. I’m proud to be a Gryffindor/Scorpio and if yours differs from what you should be based on your placement in the zodiac, that’s totally okay. Have your house pride however you want!

We are all different and that’s why we each have our preferred houses. It also might be because I hate the idea that I’m a Slytherin but still.
