Mike Schur shows and their love of the Harry Potter series

Everyone loves a good Harry Potter reference and you can find them in most of Mike Schur’s shows and it is wonderful to see on television time and time again.

Whether it is The Office, Brooklyn 99, the Good Place, or Parks and Recreation, you can probably find a reference to the Harry Potter series hidden in each of them. Why? Well, the creators love the series and so each of their shows tend to have a connection back to Harry and his fight against Voldemort.

One of the best instances of this comes from The Office. Michael Scott decides that he wants to scare his employees so he dresses up like Prison Mike. He tells them all about the hardships of prison and, you know what the worst part about it was? The dementors.

While it is just a fun reference to Harry Potter and his friends, it isn’t the only time we’ve seen this in one of these comedies. Leslie Knope often talked about Hogwarts and her house in Parks and Recreation, Amy is so excited that Jake started to read the series. To be honest, the only show that really hasn’t had a big Potter reference is The Good Place but we still have another season left so who knows what will happen.

It’s just a wonderfully fun thing to see, watching as these shows share the love that many of us have for Harry Potter and bringing it to life in some of our favorite fictional characters. I love how much Leslie Knope loves the series and I’m sure others feel the same about these comedies!
