Stranger Things experience at Universal’s Cabana Bay: Where’s Steve?
Stranger Things continues to delight fans and at Universal’s Cabana Bay, you can step into two of the show’s iconic scenes. But, where’s Steve?
Are you prepared to step into the world of Stranger Things? The Netflix show has become a pop culture phenomenon. During Halloween Horror Nights 28 that haunted house was one of the most talked about experiences. As Universal Orlando Resort’s annual Halloween event kicks off, guests at Cabana Bay get their own Stranger Things experience.
A special event just for the guests of Cabana Bay, this experience allows fans to step into two scenes from Stranger Things: the couch from the Byers’ house and a replica of Scoops Ahoy. These are real, interactive sets and definitely give you a vibe from the popular Netflix show.
Looking at the Byers’ couch, Halloween Horror Nights fans might remember this set from last year’s house. From the lights to the writing, it is extremely realistic.
Since guests can take a seat on the couch, you might be cautious when you sit. While you may not get sucked into the Upside Down, there are a few surprises waiting for you. Remember to look around the table for special interactive features.
With Halloween Horror Nights 29 continuing the Stranger Things haunted house with Seasons 2 and 3, the Cabana Bay experience allows guests to step behind the counter at Scoops Ahoy. While you might not get to call Steve a dingus, you can step into his likeness. Cut outs of him and Robin are available for guests to pose with.
When I stepped into this experience, I didn’t get to see if you can go further behind the counter. That idea could be a little fun. Or, I would maybe try to bring a group and get people posing both in front of and behind the counter. That idea could make for a cute photo.
This pop-up experience is smart for Universal Orlando Resort. Stranger Things has a wide appeal, including families and some younger audiences. Since Halloween Horror Nights is for an older crowd, this experience is much more family approachable.
Additionally, this pop-up experience could entice guests to book a room at Cabana Bay during the Halloween season, just to be part of the action. For some people, it could be the difference between staying at Cabana Bay or Endless Summer.
Lastly, it will be interesting to see if Universal Orlando Resort expands on this pop-up experience idea. There are so many Universal properties that could work in this type of offering. While there are some themed rooms across the hotel properties, this pop-up experience could be a big draw.
The Stranger Things pop-up experience is located at Cabana Bay at Universal Orlando Resort. The experience is just for hotel guests.
Would this experience entice you to book a room at Cabana Bay? What other type of pop-up experiences would you like to see Universal Orlando Resort explore?
