There are quite a few characters throughout the Harry Potter series that grow into amazing characters by the end and it is interesting how the series manages their arcs.

From James Potter to Harry Potter himself, we see a lot of character growth throughout the series and maybe that is because of the amount of time we spend with these characters. But, in looking at their growth, we can see how the book series (and subsequent movies) has made some of our favorite characters grow from obnoxious kids into the heroes that the wizarding world needed.

Look at the Marauders. They were a group of boys who tormented kids and caused havoc around school because that is what they thought was fun. But, as the times changed, so did the Marauders. James Potter grew up to fight against Voldemort and sacrifice himself for his family. Sirius Black died protecting James’ kid and was part of the resistance. Remus Lupin fought against Voldemort, gave his life doing so, and taught the kids of Hogwarts how to defend themselves.

All of these characters had wonderful arcs and that was just in a few small chapters. If we look at major characters like Harry, Ron, or Hermione, it is amazing to see how they changed from the kids who first got sorted into Gryffindor to those adults we see in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

Everything about this series shows us that J.K. Rowling knows how to develop her characters and show them growing and learning from the things happening around them and it is truly wonderful to reflect back on.
