There Will Come a Darkness – Katy Rose Pool

This fantasy debut from new author Katy Rose Pool promises to be one of the most intriguing tiles of the Fall.

There Will Come a Darkness is set in a big, complicated world with plenty of magical lore, history and prophecies to explore. Over a hundred years ago, the Seven Prophets disappeared from the world, leaving humanity with a prophecy foretelling a coming Age of Darkness and the rise of a Last Prophet who could (possibly) stop it all.

The story follows five young people – a prince, an assassin, a gambler, a warrior and more – and all eventually collide with one another, either to help help save the world or to help bring the end times about. Issues of free will, predestination and destiny are raised, as the world hangs in the balance between salvation and destruction.

Along the way friendships are formed, romances bloom, and big secrets are revealed for – and about – almost everyone involved.

The official synopsis promises the sort of sweeping epic story that YA fans will love – and since it’s the first novel in a trilogy, there’s a lot more story to come.

"For generations, the Seven Prophets guided humanity. Using their visions of the future, they ended wars and united nations―until the day, one hundred years ago, when the Prophets disappeared. All they left behind was one final, secret prophecy, foretelling an Age of Darkness and the birth of a new Prophet who could be the world’s salvation . . . or the cause of its destruction. As chaos takes hold, five souls are set on a collision course: A prince exiled from his kingdom. A ruthless killer known as the Pale Hand. A once-faithful leader torn between his duty and his heart. A reckless gambler with the power to find anything or anyone. And a dying girl on the verge of giving up. One of them―or all of them―could break the world. Will they be savior or destroyer?"

There Will Come a Darkness is available on September 3.
