This is truly the saddest part in the entire Harry Potter series
Everyone has that moment in the Harry Potter series that hits them in a certain way and it wasn’t until I saw Harry Potter and the Cursed Child that mine changed.
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is a beautiful look at Harry’s life when he isn’t bogged down by trying to stop Voldemort. But it has one moment that completely broke me in the audience. Mainly because after everything that Harry Potter has seen, it was the saddest thing yet.
He’s standing with his family, watching, as Voldemort walks into his childhood home to kill his parents and attempt to kill him and he can’t do anything about it. (You know, rules of time travel and all that.)
So Harry Potter, hopelessly, has to watch as his parents are killed in front of him. For me, the saddest thing was Harry watching his only father figure, Sirius Black, die before his eyes but that? Harry looking on as Voldemort changed his life forever? That was the most painful thing to witness.
No matter how hard he tries to live a happy life and move on, something always brings him back to the darkness he had to escape from and it is truly what makes Harry Potter such an interesting character. He can’t just live a life that is happy and normal. Even when he gets that big of happiness, something comes back to try and take it all away from him and honestly, poor Harry Potter. You’ve been through enough already.
