The World According to Jeff Goldblum

I’ve been told this is blasphemous to say, but I don’t get the whole Jeff Goldblum thing. He’s a good actor, don’t get me wrong, and a ton of fun, but I don’t understand what the fervid fanbase sees. Maybe if I watch The World According to Jeff Goldblum, I’ll finally discover the answer.

The World According to Jeff Goldblum looks like a mix of National Geographic documentary with Anthony Bourdain’s zaniness. It follows Goldblum as he looks at things that fascinate him, from people’s obsession with expensive shows, to what we love about ice cream, to how tattoos are put on. (The most frightening that I saw at D23 all weekend was footage of Goldblum prepping to tattoo someone.) Goldblum’s patented brand of charm is on full display, and like Forky Asks a Question, the series seems like a great way to bring education into people’s lives in a way they wouldn’t have sought out ordinarily.

Goldblum has certainly cemented himself as a Disney darling, and the first trailer for the series looks like it will have plenty for both fans and non-fans of Goldblum alike. I’m ready to be educated, and maybe learn to like Goldblum more in the process.
