What’s new in September for Xbox Live Gold members?
Xbox Live Gold members have four more offerings for the month of September. And some of these titles may look a little familiar…
It’s always a fun day when Xbox Live Gold offerings are announced for the next month. With school and classes coming back in session, these four new choices may be good options to get you back into the swing of things. (And it’s not just because one of them has been on Game Pass and another one is the third title in the series for the year…)
Below are the offerings for September, the systems they’re on, and the dates they’re available to download:
- Hitman: The Complete First Season (September 1-30 on Xbox One)
- We Were Here (September 16 to October 15 on Xbox One)
- Earth Defense Force 2025 (September 1-15 on Xbox 360 and Xbox One)
- Tekken Tag Tournament 2 (September 16-30 on Xbox 360 and Xbox One)

It’s not a competition, but if it were, PlayStation Plus members would definitely win this month. But still, let’s look at what Microsoft is offering for September.
Hitman: The Complete First Season is a solid stealth video game that tests your patience — or your tenacity to just shoot your target and hope you make it to the exit before you get caught. It all depends on your mood. You can be as creative as you want as you play. It’s just a little disappointing of an offering since it’s been on Game Pass for a while.
If you want a standard two-person puzzle game, then We Were Here fits your needs. Two players are trapped inside an abandoned castle with player two trying to find where player one is stuck. It’s nothing terribly complicated or convoluted and will keep you entertained — or frustrated — for hours.
Are you a fan of Earth Defense Force? You should be! Especially if you’ve been a Games With Gold member for all of 2019, because this is the third offering this year. May had Armageddon; June had 2017. Now September is giving us 2025. It’s like Microsoft has taken Marge Simpson’s repetitive advice to heart.
Lastly, we have Tekken Tag Tournament 2. It’s the eighth main installment in the Tekken gaming series. If you want a solid PVP fighting game, I would check this one out.
Overall, the September offerings aren’t as stellar as they’ve been in the past. Maybe that’s a good thing for those who area headed back into classes. Get us back into the swing of things without too many distractions, and come in swinging in October when we need a break.
As always, don’t forget some of the August offerings — like Forza Motorsport 6 — are available until September 15.
