Back to Hogwarts Day: Listen to a special chapter of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone
By Callum Gunn
It’s that special time of year when the students of Hogwarts head back to school. Google Assistant is celebrating with a special chapter of Harry Potter Book 1.
Back to Hogwarts Day is just around the corner. It’s a fun day in the world of Harry Potter. This is the only bunch of students I’ve ever known to all be excited about going back to school. To celebrate this exciting day, Google Assistant is offering to tell you a special story from Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.
All you have to do is say “Hey, Google, tell me a Harry Potter story,” and you’ll get your story. Chapter 6 is available to all, even if you haven’t bought the first book in the series through Google Play.

You can listen through any of your voice-activated devices, including the Google Home and through your Assistant on your phone or Android tablet. It’s even available through an iOS device, as long as you have the Google Play Books app, according to Pottermore.
Why this chapter? This is the one that sees Harry head to Hogwarts for the very first time, even though the Dursleys will try everything to prevent it from happening. This is also the chapter Harry meets Ron and Hermione for the very first time, and we experience Platforms Nine-and-Three-Quarters.

There’s no doubt that you’ll want to check out the features right away. Even though you likely know the chapter off by heart, just like me, you’ll want to listen to it on the first day back at Hogwarts.
It’s not clear how long this feature will be available. It’s likely to be around for the next week until Back to Hogwarts Day, but it may not be around for much longer after that.
