This year’s D23 Expo begins today, and there are a lot of announcements we’d love to hear from Disney. What could we learn at this year’s convention?

This year has definitely been Disney’s best ever. And yet, going into the D23 Expo 2019 this weekend, Disney’s future looks even brighter. Not only is the Disney+ streaming service headed our soon, with plenty of Marvel and Star Wars content, but the company has big plans for its theme parks and movie lineup over the next few years.

With so much to look forward to, here’s what we hope to see, hear, and experience as attendees (and at-home spectators) of Disney’s famous convention.

How does Disney plan to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Disney World?

There’s buzz that Disney has special plans for Walt Disney World in time for their 50th anniversary, but what is among these plans? New rides? Parades? Nighttime shows? Perhaps even minor (but much-needed) enhancements to existing attractions?

We’ll just have to wait until Sunday to find out what they have in store for the semi-centennial, but we assume it will be something big.

We’re dying for more details on Frozen 2!

Disney film trailers are known to be intentionally vague, but the Frozen 2 trailer is especially shrouded in mystery! While whoever will be representing the Frozen sequel during the Walt Disney Studios panel probably won’t divulge too much, we can still hold out hope for more details.

Like, what’s the actual title going to be? And how do Evan Rachel Wood and Sterling K. Brown — both of whom were noticeably absent from the trailer — play into the film?

We’re also dying for more details on Star Wars Episode IX: Rise of Skywalker.

A new trailer? A behind-the-scenes look at the upcoming film? We’ve waited long enough — anything they can give us at the D23 Expo to satisfy our Star Wars cravings will do. And rumors have suggested we’re due for a new trailer soon…

Speaking of Star Wars, give us the 411 on that immersive themed hotel.

We officially have a name for the Star Wars-themed hotel coming to Disney Hollywood Studios: Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser. But what exactly is in store for us with this fully immersive lodging experience?

We’re hoping that the hotel, which is expected to have a hefty price tag, is worth every penny.

Halle Bailey makes a splash in a surprise appearance at “The Little Mermaid: The 30th Anniversary Celebration” panel.

OK, this one is a bit of a stretch, but a mermaid-at-heart can dream, right?  But honestly, how could they have a D23 panel celebrating The Little Mermaid without officially introducing Halle Bailey as Ariel?? Plus, if Jodi Benson, Halle Bailey, and Auli’i Cravalho — who have each stepped into the role of Ariel — all took the stage to sing “Part of Your World,” everyone in the room would lose their minds.

Give us a timeline of the next few years of Disney and Pixar animated films.

We’ll have Pixar’s Onward and Disney’s Frozen 2 in our hands before we know it, but what we’re really hungry for is what’s coming next! Marvel Studios notably announces films in timeline form, and we can only hope the same happens for Disney Animation Studios and Pixar at D23.

A timeline of the next few years of Disney live-action films would be cool, too.

We hope that Disney will divulge details on the next few officially announced live-action remakes such as Mulan in 2020, as well as Cruella (which, oddly, we’ve heard very little about) and The Little Mermaid  in 2021. But we’re also super eager to hear which beloved Disney animated films will be reimagined next. (And do any of them happen to be a Pixar remake?)

Are new rides, lands, and other developments headed for the Disney Parks?

The Parks Panel is infamous for being only panel at the D23 Expo that can trigger and heartbreak in a single moment when Bob Chapek, Chairman of Parks, Experiences, and Products, takes the stage to announce what’s to come for the Disney Parks. Dreaming of news on future attractions and experiences? Be careful what you wish for — it may come at the expense of your personal favorite.

Will the dreams (to stream) that we wish come true?

Attendees are predicting the “Disney+ Showcase” panel will include special sneak peeks into the content that is expected to come with a Disney+ subscription. But does this guarantee we’ll get to learn more about the most-buzzed-about Disney+ originals, such as The Mandalorian, Loki, and Monsters at Work (among others)?

The secret’s out, but what exactly is One Day at Disney?

The “Walt Disney Company Secret Project” was finally revealed — and yet, other than a book and a Disney+ series,  we still don’t know what exactly it is. But based on the introductory trailer, it’s refreshing to hear Disney+ will include a series that will hook passionate fans of the Disney brand as a whole, offering them a unique (albeit biased) behind-the-scenes look behind the curtain of cast member and corporate operations.
