The beauty of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and the exploration of Harry

In Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, we see an older Harry, one that is still trying to figure out his life and his family and that exploration is wonderful to see.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is an interesting time for fans. Mainly because we’re seeing a Harry Potter we never thought we’d see before. Harry is living his life as an auror and a father, exploring who he is outside of his connection to Voldemort and even as he finds himself back in the thick of it, he’s still a father first and foremost.

That, to me, is what makes it so special because it is letting Harry Potter explore himself and understand his motivations in a way that we didn’t really get to see in the series. Probably because he was more concerned with stopping Voldemort. So now, as an adult, Harry can make decisions about his family and his career and not worry that Voldemort will continue to kill and take over the Wizarding World.

He’s more invested in himself and his own happiness and then, by extension, the happiness of his kids and that is such a departure from what we know of the series that it’s incredible to look at it and see how much Harry has grown in the 19 years after the final battle. There is still story left to tell and maybe we’ll all revisit Harry someday but Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is a nice continuation.
