Remus Lupin and the representation of his character in the world of fandom
It’s fun to look into the world of cosplay and fandom because you often still see a Remus Lupin around. Why is that? What is it about Lupin that makes fans so happy?
Remus Lupin is a fan favorite and for a good reason. A representation of many different ideologies within the series, Lupin remains a character that speaks to fans of all ages and backgrounds. So it is wonderful to see Lupin cosplayers around or people relating to the character through both the idea of his illness as well as what he, as a character, stood for in the series.
A member of the Marauders and the Order of the Phoenix, Remus was always seemingly getting into trouble or fighting against the dark ideals surrounding him. Maybe it was because he was a werewolf or maybe it was because it was just what he believed, but seeing him dedicate his life to defeating Voldemort hurt a great deal because out of everyone, Lupin lost just as much as Harry.
Remus Lupin lost all of his best friends at once, had no one to turn to, was a victim to his illness, and, when he finally found love and had a son, he was killed in battle against the Dark Lord. When you look at it, if anyone would understand Harry’s pain, it was Lupin and his struggles.
So here is to Remus Lupin, one of the best characters in the series and someone who willingly did the right thing again and again because it was the right thing to do.
