The complicated nature of Queenie Goldstein joining Grindelwald in Fantastic Beasts
When it comes to Queenie Goldstein, fans have a bit of a problem with her ending up with Grindelwald and for good reason but we don’t necessarily have to like why she’s there.
At the end of Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, we watched as Queenie Goldstein chose to go with Grindelwald instead of with her sister and friends. Why? Because she thought Grindelwald could help her change the world and she could finally be with Jacob. The problem is that, looking at it objectively, we know that Grindelwald is not the kind of character to care about Queenie and her desires overall.
It makes Queenie almost come off in a negative light and as if she’s terrible at reading people despite her powers. I don’t think she meant to be wrong and do the bad thing but it is a little bit questionable that she ended up on the wrong side all because of Jacob. Queenie should have been aware of what Grindelwald was going to do.
And that’s where the problem lies, that the movie sells Queenie as someone who would believe someone like Grindelwald despite what everyone was telling her and she does have the right to make her own decisions but there also comes a time when she has to realize what he truly means to do with his numbers and hopefully that moment comes in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 3 and we get to see Queenie return to her sister and Jacob in a positive way.
