The second to last episode of Swamp Thing will kick up the conflict, and we’re ready for the carnage on “The Anatomy Lesson.”

We’ll admit it. We’re scared for Swamp Thing and Harlan. Last week’s episode of Swamp Thing ended in a lot of action, which means “The Anatomy Lesson” will likely pick up from the scuffle in the woods. With Abby heading back to Marais, the inevitable fight scenes this week will be interesting.

To wrap up all the shenanigans from last week:

  • Avery and Woodrue captured Swamp Thing.
  • The Conclave confronted Abby. (The Conclave might also be using the CDC as its front. Weird, we know.)
  • Abby is still a BA.
  • Avery is still human scum.
  • NOBODY KNOWS WHAT HAPPENED TO HARLAN. No, we’re still not over it.
  • And overall, we’re very scared for everyone involved. Excepted for Avery and Jason. They can choke.

Obviously, a lot more happened in “Long Walk Home,” but we’re focusing on the major points of the episode.

Avery and Woodrue have apprehended the Guardian of the Green in comic format, too. We know how that went down. However, we might not see a panel-by-panel retelling of that comics story set in a Sunderland laboratory. Judging by the DC Universe series’ tendency to incorporate comic accuracy with a unique angle, “The Anatomy Lesson” could deliver a different spin on a classic arc.

With Avery’s wishy-washy approach to villainy, who knows what could happen. He might even change his might about Swampy’s capture before Woodrue starts his experiments. Nonetheless, the series works exceptionally well with slow burn stories. So, we can assume that pretty much any of the drama that happens this week will carry over into the finale next week. You know: The finale episode that we’re looking forward to just as much as we’re dreading it. Episode 10 marks the end of the Saturn Awards-nominated series, and our conflicting emotions are justified.

Hopefully, we’ll see Abby rescue Swamp Thing this week before every tracks down and saves Harlan.
