Harry Potter and summer vacations: How he used to cope being with the Dursleys

When it came to summer vacation, Harry Potter probably didn’t like going home nearly as much as his friends did because he always had to go back to the Dursleys.

Harry Potter didn’t have the best summer vacations. Mainly because he always had to go back to the Dursleys when all his friends went back to their families and got to spend their vacation having fun. Harry? Not so much.

Sure, throughout the series, he had to fight against his family and would often end up with the Weasleys but still, he did have to go back to Vernon, Petunia, and Dudley throughout his time in school and that isn’t exactly the best summer for a kid. It isn’t that Harry really had a choice either. He was basically only there because he only had the Dursleys.

Dumbledore made that choice for him, sent him to live with his aunt who hated his family, and signed over the tormenting life that Harry was going to have to deal with. It isn’t really fun and it makes a lot of us look down on Dumbledore. Especially when he let Harry go back there every summer when he knew how terrible they were.

Still, there were fun moments in Harry’s life. Like when he could escape and go with Ron and spend time with his family. So, now that he has a family all his own, do you think that he would make sure that summer was fun for his own kids? Or would he struggle because he doesn’t really  what it is like to like going home from school?
