Swamp Thing season 1 episode 7 live stream: Watch online
Swamp Thing episode 7, “Brilliant Disguise,” features the titular hero disguised as himself… or at least part of himself.
After last week’s action-filled episode, Alec Holland returns to Swamp Thing episode 7. No, he isn’t zombified… well, technically he is if you consider his conjunction with Swamp Thing a plant-based-zombification. Semantics aside, Alec’s physical form returns this week, but that doesn’t mean we’ll get a horror-free episode because there’s a lot of horror and threats on “Brilliant Disguise.”
Using the dying human he absorbed, who’s also the root of the elemental’s amnesia, Swamp Thing goes undercover as Alec Holland. Seeing as the whole town of Marais thinks Alec died in a fiery boating accident, his reappearance could cause some commotion. Poltergeists aren’t that unusual though, given that the town is being haunted by the Green plague and multiple baddies.
The reborn comfort connoisseur is eager to don his sandals and go on a proper date with Abby Arcane (as long as he doesn’t try to push Abby away from him again). Mirroring off last week’s cold open, where Swamp Thing recited all the things he wishes he could say to Abby if he was still Alec, we can expect to stifle a tear or two.
But something tells us that Swamp Thing’s disguise is the least of our concerns, thanks to Warner Bros.’ synopsis of episode 7:
"Still taking on the human appearance of Alec Holland, Swamp Thing guides Abby to an area of the swamp blighted with the encroaching Rot. But when her life is threatened, he must use all of his still-developing powers to save her. Meanwhile, Lucilia leads Avery out into the swamp under a pretense, while Maria meets with Nathan Ellery (guest star MICHAEL BEACH), the leader of the shadowy finance group known as the Conclave."
We knew we weren’t done with the Rot just yet. After all, the series wouldn’t lay one of the most sinister and persistent villains to waste. However, Conclave’s thickening story arc just throws another degree of uncertainty in our fan-theorying schemes.
With the Rot’s New 52 origins and Conclave’s pre-crisis villainous reign (almost exclusively in Swamp Thing mythos), the series will take elements of each timeline, giving us a new interpretation of the titular character. Even with the continuous comic callouts and accuracy, this will provide an interesting turn for the progressing plot.
Though, we do hope Swamp Thing gets to test out some of his unseen abilities this week.
