Death Eaters aren’t that different from those who support President Trump

When you think about it, Death Eaters follow Voldemort because they think he can make their life better and fix what they think is broken and that’s not much different than Trump supporters.

Trump promised a better life for those who voted for him, much like how Voldemort promised the Death Eaters to change their current world. Both those promises were not for the greater good but were rather to help those who were already pretty well off. So is it fair to compare the Death Eaters to Trump supporters?

I argue yes. Mainly because it is all about a selfish desire to make your life better rather than help those who need a boost. Maybe that’s the difference between the Death Eaters and everyone else in the Harry Potter world. Everyone else recognized that the world needed to change to help those around them. Voldemort wanted to bring it back to an archaic way.

You know, kind of like the idea of “Make America Great Again” that, despite being confusing, means bringing us back to a time when women were seen as less than and people of color were not equal to the white men of society.

So, sorry if I think that it is reasonable to compare the two. When I see selfishness so evident in people, I want to call it out. And as I did with the Death Eaters, I see that same selfishness in those who want to support the president. They don’t care about what is better for the greater good. They care about how it is going to benefit them.

Do you think the two are comparable? Or should we keep our pop culture separate from what we’re currently going through politically? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
