Swamp Thing season 1 episode 5 live stream: Watch online

We’re halfway through Swamp Thing, and we wish the series would continue after this first season, now more than ever.

We’re at the halfway point of Swamp Thing now. We’ve learned a lot about the swamp, Alec and Abby, and some of the magic in Marais. This week, episode 5 will give us even more magic as it introduces an ambiguous character, the Phantom Stranger.

Last week, Harlan fought for his life and we contemplated hoe an awful man like Woodrue is married. Our curiosity will wonder this week. This time the mysticism of the swamp is in question. After all, what’s a Swamp Thing episode without a lot of horrors, romance, magic, and riveting scenes?

Like Maria is haunted by an actual figment of her daughter, this week is about ghosts and tragic pasts. According to Warner Bros. Television Division’s synopsis for “Drive All Night,” we’re getting an Abby focused episode:

"Haunted by the ghost of her childhood friend who reemerges from the swamp, Abby’s forced to confront both her past with the Sunderlands as well as the dark forces at play in Marais. While she continues to search for a cure for Alec, he struggles to come to terms with his transformation with the help of a mysterious Phantom Stranger (recurring guest star MACON BLAIR).  When Abby’s life is threatened, Swamp Thing is able to use his abilities to save her, but it’s Matt, ultimately, who saves the day – further isolating Swamp Thing from the human world.  Meanwhile, Sheriff Cable learns some disturbing information about her son, while Jason Woodrue shares a revelation about Swamp Thing with Avery Sunderland."

Whew. There’s a lot to unpack here. Alec finally accepts his new form. Alec saves Abby again. And Abby faces her past, which means we might finally figure out what actually happened to Shawna. Or perhaps the series will continue to live on the fringe of obscurity and only give us a snippet of what actually happens.

Regardless, we’re glad that Alec might finally be accepting his new swampy form, and likely all his abilities and duties that come with the Swamp Thing title. However, we’re definitely curious about the jealousy that lively brooding inside Alec with the apparent heroics of Matt Cable.

Given Matt and Alec’s nemesis-riddled comic history, this week could set their antagonistic dynamic into motion.
