Choosing an animagus: The importance of what your animal can mean to you

facebooktwitterreddit

Sirius Black picked a black dog, Peter Pettigrew was a rat, but what would you be if you could be an animagus in the Harry Potter series? What animal would you choose?

When you get to pick your animagus form, it is important because that’s a form you’re going to take for the rest of your life. Sirius Black was the black shaggy dog, Peter Pettigrew a rat (which is very fitting) and so on and so forth. So, have you ever thought about what animal you would choose?

Obviously, it has to be an animal you could see in public, right? Wouldn’t want to be a tiger and then not be able to use it ever because who wants to casually see a tiger walking down the street? But it should also be a practical choice. With Sirius’s animagus, he had his moment to hide in plain sight. He needed something to keep him hidden and he used his form to do so.

Picking for yourself, hopefully you’d never have a reason to hide like Sirius Black did but still, you’d want an animagus that you could use. Something like a dog or a cat. Personally, I think a bird is a smart option because why not fly around and get a visual on the world while hiding? It’d be great and who doesn’t want to fly around?

Whatever choice you make, an animagus is a big deal because that’s what you are going to end up staying with your entire life so no one wants to just pick any animal randomly!
