Harry Potter and the really bad, no good war that most definitely ruined his life

He may not have had the best of childhoods but Harry Potter at least started to have a family. But then the war took most everyone he loved away so maybe his life is terrible.

Harry Potter is a tragic character. There is no doubt about it. He very willingly threw himself in the line of fire and came out with losing almost everyone he ever cared about. Sure, now he has a family and is relatively happy but he still lost so much in order to make sure that the wizarding world was a safe place.

Often, we look at Harry and laugh at his dramatics, call him overzealous or whatever words we like to describe the Boy Who Lived. But when you really look at him as a character and everything he gave up to honor the memory of his parents and defeat Voldemort, Harry Potter is the one who came out hurt the most.

Yes, everyone lost someone. It’s a war but Harry lost someone in his life throughout the entire battle against Voldemort. He lost his parents, and then his friends. He lost Sirius Black and then Dumbledore, Lupin, Snape, and so many more. It isn’t really fair that, at every turn, Harry Potter had to sit back and watch people around him die as he continued to live and fight Lord Voldemort.

Maybe that was his destiny but it makes sense that Harry struggles with his survivor’s guilt and we should give him a little more credit.
