Harry Potter and Riverdale: How the worlds treat magic and the supernatural
Maybe it is because both Riverdale and Harry Potter have magical elements to the show or maybe it is just because we are addicted to both but there is something beautiful about both series!
Riverdale might not be filled with witches and wizards like Harry Potter but it does have its own witch taking over. I’m talking about Sabrina Spellman in Greendale, obviously, but still, it is a fun town with lots of twists and turns, just like the scene at Hogwarts.
It seems as though you get a bunch of teenagers together and they tend to fall into the same kind of drama. With Harry Potter, they’re fighting Voldemort and trying to do it all without the help of the adults in their lives. In Riverdale, they’re fighting the Gargoyle King without the help of the adults in their lives. So…not too terribly different from each other.
It’s just fun to look at a show like Riverdale and see how it connected with a series we love so much even though they have no real connection to one another otherwise. Sure, there is magic in both but even that is a stretch. Still, there is something about watching Riverdale and reading or watching Harry Potter that makes us feel like teenagers ourselves again.
It might just be that they both are set around teens trying to figure out what is going on or maybe it is Sabrina and Harry himself but whatever it is, there is something about the two that brings us back to when we were younger and is fun!
