James Potter and Sirius Black were the perfect example of friends who needed each other
Sirius Black was an outlaw to his family and James Potter was willing to accept him as his brother so, together, they were a great example of friends who need to lean on one another.
Harry Potter only heard stories of James Potter and Sirius Black together. But their friendship is one that marked them both for life. Sirius in the sense that he lost his freedom for a lie and James because he died and didn’t get to be there for his family and his friend.
The series does a pretty great job of looking at the Marauders in a beautiful light but truly, seeing them as kids and being together is something that we never really got to see. There were glimpses, of course, but nothing that showed us how the Marauders really were because they, arguably, were not the focus.
But then again, they became our favorite characters. So with that knowledge, wanted to see them even more than we did, especially James and Sirius. Sirius Black’s family hated him. Wanted him gone and didn’t care about him but the Potters? They welcomed him in and were willing to accept him as their son without a worry about it.
Sirius Black didn’t know what it was like without James Potter as his best friend and that’s something that would have been lovely to see. Sure, Harry had a similar relationship with Ron and Hermione but there is something a bit different about Sirius and James.
