Harry Potter and the world of fantasy: How the series inspired fans to read on
The world of fantasy was introduced to many of us at a young age because of the joy that comes from reading the Harry Potter series as children. So how do we still relate to it?
Harry Potter existed so that we could all dream of going to a magical school where witches and wizards gave us the ability to perform things that we’ve only ever seen in movies. Sure, none of it was real but the point is that it helped us imagine a world different from what we lived in.
We got lost in these books and cared about what we were reading. So now, as adults, we’re still looking for a way to connect to the world of fantasy. Not because we want to get lost in that dream world but rather because we want to dream on in the way that we did as kids.
It’s mainly because the Potter series brought to life something we could wish for but also because we had the opportunity to strive to be better because of it. For many, we were gifted with things from the series as a way of rewarding us for being the best we could be. That includes, now, trips to Hogwarts. Or, well, the Wizarding World of Harry Potter but you get the idea.
It’s just wonderful to look back on the series and recognize what it ended up giving us as fans. We fell in love with everything in this franchise and the joy it brings us all and, in turn, we got a lifetime of loving fantasy.
