Swamp Thing episode 3, “He Speaks,” delves even deeper into the namesake comic book lore. We’ll also get a new look at Alec and Abby’s dynamic.
Every week, we prepare for the latest Swamp Thing episode anticipating many things: different degrees of horror, passionate performances, and exceptional special effects. And each week the series delivers on all accounts, but it still manages to surprise us in the best possible ways. In a production that embraces the comic oddities and magic, that’s a surprising feat in itself. While we attempt to prep for this week’s curiosities, “He Speaks” will focus on Alec and Abby.
The series is just be unfolding the Sunderland ecological disaster-turned biohazardous vector (well, at least sort of). However, that doesn’t mean it won’t continue to clarifying Alec and Abby’s chemistry. Judging by the title of the episode, we’ll see Swamp Thing relearn how to use even more of his abilities, and even speak.
Beyond Alec/Swamp Thing and their growing autonomy of their still conflicting identity, we’ll see some new developments with the chloro-zoonotic contagion. Courtesy of Warner Bros. Television Division, this week’s synopsis gives us a hint at some of the impending scares:
"When her friend and co-worker is stricken with the green flu, Abby searches Alec’s lab for a cure but instead finds the latest supernatural reanimation from the Rot."
Known for her scientific expertise and her productive skepticism, Abby will delve into Alec’s research. However, even searching through some video journals and research files isn’t harmless in Marais (or at least in the town during a botanical virus outbreak).
We don’t even want to meander through any fan theories to keep you guessing on who or what might visit Abby as she searches for a cure. You’ll just have to leave yourself to your own guesses until you have a chance to watch the episode.
None the less, we’re more curious about what will lead Swampy to talk in this episode. We’d say that we’re worried about Abby, but we know she can handle herself. Plus, it doesn’t hurt that our priorities are clearly with our Alec and Abby ship.
