Fear the Walking Dead: 5 most important moments from “The Hurt That Will Happen”

There were some big moments on Fear The Walking Dead this week. Here are the best moments from “The Hurt That Will Happen.”

Fear The Walking Dead brought back a character and introduced a new one this week, but the best moments of the show included some pretty gross walkers, some amazing kills, and the emotional connection between the survivors.

One of the highlights this week was definitely the return of Daniel Salazar. Daniel Salazar first appeared back in season 1, when Travis Manawa and his son Chris took refuge in Daniel’s barber shop as the world was starting to fall apart.

Daniel, his wife Griselda, and his daughter Ofelia got swept up with the Manawas and with the Clarks as they all struggled to survive the initial onslaught of the apocalypse.

Daniel is the only Salazar left standing, and it was great to see him reunited with Strand, whom he has a long history with, even though their reunion was contentious. Daniel has always seen through Victor’s smooth persona and Daniel doesn’t trust him. When Daniel told Strand that he wouldn’t give Strand the plane to rescue Alicia and Al because Strand would just mess things up for them and they were better off finding a way out on their own he wasn’t necessarily wrong.

It will be very interesting to see how Salazar fits into the show the way it is now and how he will interact with the rest of group if he sees them again. It would be nice to see him reunite with Alicia since she is the only other survivor left from season 1.

Here are the other four moments you need to pay attention to in the coming weeks:

Toxic walkers

Another high point of Fear The Walking Dead this week was the introduction of the irradiated walkers. It’s interesting to see some aspects of the apocalypse that were never covered in The Walking Dead, like what would happen when a nuclear power reactor failed. The walkers who were exposed to radiation are deadly to anyone who gets near them because they still carry lethal radiation.

Grace, a scientist from the plant, has made it her mission to track down the walkers she knows are dangerous, but Morgan almost became a victim of radiation before Grace saved him. The radiated walkers were really awful looking, and the makeup effects were great. It was fun to see walkers as a different kind of threat to the living.

Luciana and the accordion

The light moments in this episode from a drugged up Luciana were just the right note of levity. Still healing from her horrific injury, Luciana was a little loopy from the pain meds that she was given, and Danay Garcia’s totally deadpan tone while saying nonsensical and out of context things like wanting to know when she’d be able to play the accordion again even though she doesn’t play the accordion was just the right balance in an otherwise dark episode.

Morgan and Alicia

Morgan trying to help Alicia process all the heartache and loss she’s been through is wonderful to watch. Alicia has made it her mission to keep everyone safe because that’s what Madison did for her, Nick, and all of their friends but she’s still grieving and trying to find a way to live with the weight of what she’s lost.

Morgan is probably the only one who can understand the struggle that Alicia is going through and he is doing what he can to keep her from going over the edge the way that he did. It’s beautiful to watch the emotional bond that these two have get stronger.

Dwight returns

One of the highlights of next week’s new episode of Fear The Walking Dead “Humbug Gulch” will definitely be the arrival of Savior Dwight from The Walking Dead in the Fear The Walking Dead world.
