Understanding the complexity that was Albus Percival Dumbledore
Albus Dumbledore is the kind of professor that everyone looked up to but that doesn’t mean that he was the kind of character we should want to be and we’re taking a look at Dumbledore!
You know, Albus Dumbledore isn’t all he’s cracked up to be. As the series went on, we learned that Dumbledore may not have had the best intentions and, within that, we learned that he wasn’t always this great wise professor. He lost himself to love, helped bring on the rise of Voldemort, and left Harry when he was needed the most.
All that is just the type of the iceberg when it comes to understanding Dumbledore. And we still don’t know everything about him. Maybe it is just because he’s the professor everyone looked up to but, for years, we all, as fans, saw him as the figure of hope and the one that would help Harry no matter what.
Clearly, that isn’t the case and there were problems with the way that Dumbledore went about protecting his students and how he used them without explaining what his plan was. That being said, we still respect Dumbledore for his willingness to fix his mistakes, work to stop Voldemort, and, at the end, admit when he was wrong.
There is a lot about Albus Dumbledore that we may never know. We might not see him grow into the professor we know him to be after the Fantastic Beasts series and we may never see his actual relationship with Grindelwald but it is nice to know he’s still great to look up to.
