What is the American equivalent to the Harry Potter series?

While we in America love the Harry Potter series, do we have our own version of this series or is it its own unique beast in comparison to the properties we have here?

Harry Potter is its own juggernaut but that doesn’t mean we can’t have something similar to its cultural importance in the United States. While we have had things that are extremely important to us all throughout the years, I don’t think there is anything quite like Harry Potter in the states.

Sure, you could argue that Star Trek is similar in importance but I’d say that Trek is more along the lines of Doctor Who than Harry Potter because the two shows go in waves but are always woven into the fabric of the pop culture zeitgeist.

Here’s the thing though: I think that everything in our pop culture is separate and their impact is based on how we all react to them. So I don’t necessarily think we can compare Harry Potter to anything else and vice versa.

Each of us has a connection to our pop culture favorites and that connection is important to us all. That doesn’t mean that we have to compare it something else we love. We can just have an appreciation for all these things. So no, there isn’t really an American equivalent to the Harry Potter series but there doesn’t have to be.

We can love Harry Potter no matter where we are and that’s what is so special about the series.

Next. What if we did Harry Potter and the Cursed Child instead of 3 more Fantastic Beasts movies?. dark

Do you think that Star Trek is as close as we’ll get to a Harry Potter like series or do you think we have other series like it? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
