Do we, as Harry Potter fans, have a problem with buying all things Potter?

Every Harry Potter fan has their house, their favorite character, and more but do we have a problem with buying merchandise from all those things and more? Most definitely.

There is probably at least 5 or more Harry Potter themed things in my room alone and that’s just what is visible when you walk in. That’s not counting my shirts and jewelry and things that are hidden throughout my bedroom. So, it makes me wonder: Do we as fans have a problem with buying everything that has to do with the series?

Maybe it is just me but the minute I see anything slightly related to the Potter franchise, I’m more inclined to purchase it and take it home with me. So now, with the new Harry Potter Vans, we’re all in for our bank accounts yelling at us, right?

I think it just pinpoints a problem with fandom and how we want to always stay connected to our favorite things. Which, in doing so, often leads to us spending a lot of money to represent our favorites.

Which, that’s not a bad thing either. Sure, it’d be nice to not have to spend nearly $100 at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in order to have a sweater with an H on it but still, it’s the small price we pay as fans of anything. So yes, I do think we all have a problem with buying things that have to do with our favorite series but at the same time, we just like to stay connected to something that means a lot to us and that’s okay.
