Fear The Walking Dead preview: A series regular returns, but he doesn’t look too friendly

Previews for Fear The Walking Dead show the group searching for Althea and the return of one of the series originals, Daniel Salazar.

The first episode of Fear The Walking Dead season 5 started with a fiery crash and ended with Althea being kidnapped as she was investigating some unusual finds at the crash site. It was revealed that the group she was investigating is the same group who took Rick Grimes when he disappeared on The Walking Dead.

Where’s Al?

It looks like the second episode of this season, “The Hurt That Will Happen”, will pick up with John Dorie, Alicia, and Morgan searching for Al but finding no trace of her or the items she was investigating.

The walker that she killed who was wearing armor is also gone. And whoever took her also took the guns and other supplies that were in the boxes that were on the plane. In this preview for Fear The Walking Dead, the three rescuers are puzzled by Althea’s disappearance and don’t have a good feeling about whatever is going on:

With John, Morgan, and Alicia searching for Althea and Strand heading off to find Daniel Salazar and try to get the plane from him to go and rescue the others it looks like the second episode will have the same intensity that the season premiere had. Possibly the group that took Althea knew something about those High Radiation signs in the area or they are connected to that facility somehow.

Another preview shows more of those high radiation signs and more walker heads in the trees. Is someone trying to keep them out of a high radiation area or keep them away from something else?

There’s still a lot of questions that need to be answered from the season premiere including who those kids are, why the walkers are strung together across the roads, and what Logan’s plans for the factory are. Hopefully “The Hurt That Will Happen” will deliver some of those answers and give some hints about the rest of the season.

Daniel Salazar’s return

Another clip from Fear The Walking Dead episode 502 shows Daniel Salazar holding Strand at gunpoint, probably not too happy to see him. Daniel Salazar didn’t appear at all in season 4 of Fear The Walking Dead although he was mentioned a few times. It was presumed that he died at the dam after Strand shot him in the face.

However, he survived and made his way to Texas just like the others. He and Strand have a long history that goes back to the beginning of the apocalypse but their relationship went sour in season 3 when Daniel found Strand to be a prisoner at the dam.

Daniel blames the fact that he couldn’t get to his daughter Ofelia before she died on Strand, and that’s bound to be a factor in how their reunion plays out on Fear The Walking Dead this week.
