Four designers remain in Project Runway season 17. But, will one designer’s dreams be crushed right before the final runway show?

After last week’s fashion meets art installation episode, Project Runway sent four designers home to create their 10 piece collection. While everyone was excited about the opportunity, twists and turns have been part of this revamped fashion reality show. Did you really think that all four designers would show a collection?

According to Bravo, this week’s episode, “One Elle of a Day” features the following:

"The remaining designers arrive at a new work space to unpack their collections and learn their final challenge. Nina Garcia meets them at the Elle Magazine offices and the designers are sent spiraling when tasked with a surprise eleventh look. In the end, only three of them will move on to compete in the finale."

Looking at this week’s synopsis, the unexpected twist was something that the designers should have seen coming. In previous seasons, the “surprise” eleventh look has happened. If the designers thought that the finale would be smooth sailing, they haven’t done their homework.

Truthfully, all of the designers should be prepared to either add or cut a look from their collection. Project Runway needs to make this challenge more than just creating a collection. They need to see how the designers adapt to change.

In some ways, this season has been less about the designers’ progression. Previously, season winners have had a big arc or revelation about their aesthetic or style. For the most part, each of these four designers haven’t ventured far out of their lane.

Looking at these four designers, I think that Garo would have the most drama on the runway. As seen in previous episodes, he knows how to put on a show.

Sebastian could struggle in this concept because it is hard for him to tell a story. While technically superior, he needs to weave his story through all the looks.

But, Hester and Bishme have been popular with the judges. It could be hard to send these two popular designers home right just at the end. Plus, these two designers could probably benefit the most from earning the title.
