Slayyyter

You may not know Slayyyter’s name, but once you hear her music, you’ll wish you heard of her sooner. This singer-songwriter has been compared to artists like Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, and Charli XCX, and their influences are very clearly heard in all of her songs, but she has a unique style that’s all her own.

Slayyyter, whose real name is Catherine Slater, is openly bisexual and started her career independently by posting her songs on SoundCloud. Her electronic bubble gum pop sound made her the darling of Stan Twitter, which helped her garner a huge LGBTQIA+ following. She started getting a bit of attention with her single “Mine” which she released on Valentine’s Day earlier this year. But before that, she unleashed songs like “BFF, “I’m High,” and “Hello Kitty,” which are all perfect for your Pride playlist for being stupidly upbeat and will make you want to grind up on your friends and forget all your cares.

If you really want to feel sexy, she recently released the single “Daddy AF,” which has the lyrics “I been f–king models, I been poppin’ bottles” and “I feel daddy as f–k” and that will definitely give you that boost of confidence this Pride season. Don’t we all deserve to feel Daddy AF sometimes?

She even took advantage of the comparisons to Britney Spears and released a cover of Spears’ “Everytime,” which stuck pretty closely to the original, but with a bit more autotune and more of a synthy spin on it. It may be a bit of a downer for a Pride event, but you know what, sometimes we all need to come back down to Earth and get a bit emotional.
