MNEK

MNEK has been around for way longer than many of us even realize. He first started writing music to put on MySpace when he was 14 and sent it to different people, and at 16 he started writing for a production group, which led to him writing for the likes of The Saturdays and The Wanted. He kept up that momentum as he not only wrote and produced songs for major acts like Madonna and Kylie Minogue, but was also featured on tracks with Gorgon City and released the song that really got things rolling “Never Forget You” featuring Zara Larsson.

Never Forget You” was a massive hit and went to the number one spot on the Billboard Dance/Electronic Songs. He continued writing for artists like Beyoncé and released his debut album Language in 2018. The openly gay singer never let his sexuality get in the way of his success, and has used that in his music, too.

Last year, MNEK released a Pride anthem “Colour” with Hailee Steinfeld, and also “Tongue,” a sultry song about trying to keep the words “I love you” from rolling off your tongue in the heat of the moment. He teamed up with Years & Years, fronted by the openly gay Olly Alexander, for the single “Valentino,” an upbeat breakup track where they sing about the guy who broke their heart.

You have a lot to choose from when it comes to MNEK’s extensive library, whether it’s the songs he’s written, songs he was featured on, or his own singles. Just pick one and it’s sure to be a hit this Pride season.
