With summer rolling in, it’s the perfect time to pick up a new science-fiction or fantasy release and bring some magic to the beach with you.
Summer is here, and reading isn’t typically the first thing that comes to mind when people think of all the activities one can do once the warm weather rolls in. But books always come in handy when you’re sitting poolside, relaxing on the beach, or even during those long car trips so many of us take this time of year…
And luckily, there are plenty of new SFF books hitting shelves this June, meaning fantasy and science-fiction lovers will have plenty of magical stories to binge in the sunshine. And you know we’ll all be looking for new SFF stories to dive into now that Game of Thrones has officially come to an end.
June has an interesting mix of stories coming out, too, with everything from debuts, to short story collections, to long-awaited sequels hitting shelves. Callie Bates is wrapping up her The Waking Land trilogy, while authors like Julie Kagawa and Cameron Johnston are continuing their fantasy series. Meanwhile, Taran Matharu is beginning an entirely new series, and Cassandra Clare is releasing another collection of short stories set in her Shadowhunter world. And that’s not to mention all of the exciting standalone novels coming out this month.
All things considered, June’s going to be a great reading month for fans of the SFF genres — particularly if they’re looking to make the time for reading this summer. So, which new releases should they add to their bookshelves this month?
