10 new YA books to kick your summer off right this June
By Lacy Baugher
Screen Queens – Lori Goldstein
Upcoming contemporary novel Screen Queens is being touted as a mix of The Bold Type and The Social Network, and feels like a perfect story for the moment we’re all living in.
Screen Queens follows the story of three young women from different backgrounds, locations and social classes, all vying for prestigious summer internships in Silicon Valley.
Members of an exclusive startup incubator program, they’re all forced to face the truth about what it’s like to try and succeed in the male-dominated tech industry. (Does it sound like a lot of real-life stories we hear today?)
Screen Queens will be released on June 11.
Storm and Fury – Jennifer Armentrout
Storm and Fury is a spin-off of author Jennifer Armentrout’s The Dark Elements series, and the first installment in a brand new story, known as The Harbinger trilogy. (This story takes place after the events of The Dark Elements, and theoretically, you should be able to tackle this series without any knowledge of the first.)
Set in a world of gargoyle protectors and rising demons, Storm and Fury follows the story of a young girl with an explosive secret. Trinity Morrow is smart, snarky and brave – but also going blind. Yet she carries with her a secret, special skill: she can communicate with ghosts.
Storm and Fury will be released on June 11.
