Xbox Live Gold members are in for a treat. The four game offerings for the month of June are all solid contenders to spend your time playing
Below are the offerings for June, the systems they’re on, and the dates they’re available to download:
- EA Sports NHL 19 (June 1 to June 30 on Xbox One)
- Rivals of Aether (June 16 to July 15 on Xbox One)
- Portal: Still Alive (June 1 to June 15 on Xbox One and Xbox 360)
- Earth Defense Force 2017 (June 16 to June 30 on Xbox One and Xbox 360)
Much like PlayStation Plus, this month’s offerings are pretty solid.
If you’re already going through hockey withdrawals (even though the Stanley Cup Finals are still going strong), NHL 19 is the choice for you. See if you can duplicate what happened during this 2018-2019 season. Or try to make the Ottawa Senators any better than they actually were (which isn’t a hard feat. They were also barely below my Detroit Red Wings, so I can’t really talk).
Rivals of Aether is an indie fighting game based around fire, water, air, and Earth. If you want a Super Smash Bros. knockoff that focuses more on speed and combo attacks, this one’s for you. Plus the setting, the visuals, and the color palette are so invigorating. You may just lose yourself in it.
If you really want to have the cake be a lie, Portal: Still Alive is all yours. This is the expanded Xbox Live Arcade version of the original game, which means 14 extra levels for you to portal your way through (pun intended). And if you’ve never played any Portal game: 1. How dare you? And, 2. Please play this while you have the chance.
And if you’re more in the mood to play a standard TPS game this month, that’s where Earth Defense Force 2017 comes in. If you want to shoot at aliens and collect every kind of weapon and vehicle you can imagine, you’ll enjoy every second of this game.
As always, don’t forget you still have one May offering—The Golf Club 2 Featuring PGA Tour–available to download until June 15. Happy gaming!
