Time travel will always cause headaches, even on Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD. Just ask Avengers: Endgame!

Deke being FitzSimmons’ grandson and still surviving despite the SHIELD crew getting out of that time loop last season raises a lot of questions.

That’s probably why Sarge and his crew–and all those mean Chronicoms–are out hunting time anomalies (in the form of people). Or allegedly hunting them. We still haven’t been told what Sarge is up to, but that post-credits stinger from last week kind of filled in the gaps.

In case you missed the official synopsis for this week’s episode:

"Yo-Yo and Keller take things public; parasitic aliens threaten the human race; and someone really needs boba"

So how will Deke’s return impact the show going forward? Obviously he’s grown accustomed to being part of a world he only saw in pictures. I’m sure he’s living it up like crazy and enjoying every second of it.

Will he really want SHIELD back in his life? With everything that happened last season, I can’t imagine he’ll want to stick around with them. Especially when he hears that Daisy is out in deep space. Unless… unless he has some knowledge of how to help bring them back. After all, he did grow up in space. He may have even heard of the planet Kitson (not that SHIELD would know they’re even there).

He might also have an idea of who or what Sarge might be or what’s happened in the past–his past, at least.
