Harry Potter and Hedwig: The importance of a relationship with a pet to keep you sane

Let’s be honest, who doesn’t love Hedwig? She’s an important character to the Harry Potter series and that comes with the knowledge that Harry loves her just as much as we do.

Hedwig is the kind of character that many of us loved growing up. She was there for Harry Potter when no one else was and, in the end, she sacrificed herself to support him and was willing to do whatever Harry needed to be happy.

Hedwig is the kind of character that yes, relied on Harry, but also would willingly be there for Harry because that was her owner and she loved him. Which is, arguably, what makes the pets in the series the best characters. They’re their own beings, they have personalities but, at the end of the day, they just want to protect those they love.

Hedwig’s death hit as hard as it did because she willingly sacrificed herself for Harry because, in her eyes as his pet, he’d do the same to her. Which is sad because that isn’t typically the case but you get the point.

These pets are willing to do anything for us, be there when we need them and, really, ask for nothing but food and an occasional pet in return. Which, at least Hedwig knew that she was loved by Harry because Hedwig is the best and extremely intelligent. But then again, maybe all the pets know but just love their owners so deeply that they don’t care, which is maybe worst then them not knowing.

Next. Imagine, if you will, a musical about Harry Potter but with the music of Elton John. dark
