Gemma Jones, of Harry Potter fame, shines in Rocketman as Elton John’s grandmother!
While she has quite the track record for amazing projects, Gemma Jones also has been in some big name projects and now she’s taking on Rocketman this spring!
Gemma Jones, who helped to bring Madam Pomfrey to life, is now bringing another iconic character to life: Elton John’s grandmother! The Harry Potter and Bridget Jones’s Diary actress stars in Rocketman, the musical adaptation of Elton John’s life.
While the movie hasn’t come out yet, many reviews are praising the film and its magical adaptation of Elton John’s story. Gemma Jones plays Ivy, the grandmother to Elton who helps him live his musical dreams by taking him to school and helping him get his training.
What’s lovely about Gemma Jones in the film is that she is truly one of the few characters who always loves and supports Elton and that comes from Gemma’s beautiful performance. There is a struggle in Elton’s life where everyone leaves him, he’s lonely, and he needs to have someone on his side. We get that with Gemma Jones.
We know of her brilliance because she brought to life Madam Pomfery in the Harry Potter series. She’s a wonderful actress so it isn’t that surprising that she’s brilliant in this movie. After all though, when has Gemma Jones every let us down?
She’s always had a great career and truly, watching her shine in Rocketman is going to make everything that much better! Then again, who doesn’t just want to go see Rocketman and enjoy and entire movie of Elton John songs? That sounds like the perfect kind of way to spend a night!
