What exactly is the prison situation like in the Harry Potter series since everyone just escapes?
You’d think that after one person escaped, they’d fix their prison but it seems like everyone in Harry Potter can just escape from Azkaban rather easily and what’s up with that?
From Sirius Black to Bellatrix Lestrange, everyone seems to just walk right out of Azkaban in the Harry Potter series. Which is concerning since, you know, that’s the prison for witches and wizards.
For the purpose of storytelling, many characters come in and out of situations and into Harry’s life to push the story along. The problem is that, in doing so, some of the more ‘terrifying’ stories come from characters who were once in the horrid prison of Azkaban. But they escape, which is fine for one character. I’ll even warrant two. But then, as the series went on, people just came and went like it was easy.
Which, maybe the dementors were just really bad at their jobs. Maybe there is one of them meant to be in charge of certain prisoners and he just fell asleep. Whatever the case is, these characters shouldn’t be able to just get out of prison and be on the run as easily as many of them are.
Sirius Black just like…stays in hiding and is fine until his own cousin, who also escaped from Azkaban, murders him while he’s trying to protect Harry. Maybe just don’t send them to jail in the first place? Or send them to muggle prison since they seem to be able to keep their prisoners inside more so than the dementors can? Who knows, maybe the Black family is just really good at escaping prisoner but whatever it is, Azkaban seems easy to get out of.
