With the DCEU in full swing and a number of movies under its belt, it is time to rank the DC villains who have graced our screens so far.

Unlike the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the DC Extended Universe started late and actually took a while to find its footing. Perhaps some of that stems from just how popular the heroes of the DC comics are, after all, we are already familiar with a number of the DC villains and heroes. From Joker and the Riddler to Batman and Superman, the DCEU has some of the most iconic superheroes and villains out there.

The problem is with such a rich history (including plenty of movies under its belt already), fans had extremely high expectations when it came to the DCEU. Over time, it has felt like the DCEU may have finally found its footing and what it wants to be as a comic book-based universe. And while it may never be the MCU, that’s okay.

Considering we finally have enough material to really judge the DC villains (and the heroes), it’s time to rank 20 of the villains who have already graced our screens. From Man of Steel to Shazam, here is how we rank the bad guys of DC from sort of scary (okay, maybe not at all) to sinister and well-developed.

And even though we say sinister in terms of ranking, we are also looking at everything from backstories to character development. Even if we don’t think a villain is sinister, they could be so well crafted that they are still the perfect bad guy to rock our heroes’ worlds.
