The Netflix film Always Be My Maybe will quench your romantic thirst

Netflix is giving us a new romcom to enjoy, and Always Be My Maybe looks like it’s going to quench your thirst for what-ifs and missed connections.

The era of Netflix romcoms has just started. We don’t know what we did to deserve a fully streamable slate of hearty romcoms, but we’re grateful nonetheless. With Netflix’s latest romantic comedy, Always Be My Maybe, debuting at the end of the month, our Friday Netflix bender is about to get a lot more lovely.

Again, we’re very grateful, Netflix. With a cast complete with Ali Wong, Randall Park, Daniel Dae Kim, and Keanu Reeves, there are a lot of reasons to watch the film when it debuts on May 31. Netflix has given us a host of recent romcoms focused on coming of age stories. From To All the Boy I’ve Loved Before to The Last Summer to The Perfect Date, and everywhere in between, the streaming service has gifted us hours of wholesome love stories with a tinge of awkwardness and humor.

Now, Always Be My Maybe gives us something to thirst over and we’re not ashamed about it. Before you sit down and watch the trailer, make sure you have your fan on and a glass of ice water. Bweteen the playful but realistic awkwardness and the cast full of heartthrobs, you’ll need it.

The film isn’t even out yet, but we can already tell we’ll be watching this on repeat and screaming at all of our friends to do the same. Following Wong as Sasha and Park as Marcus and their will-they-won’t-they dynamic, we’re not sure who we’ll fall in love with first. Spoiler: Both. We’re already in love with both of them.

Beyond the stellar cast, can we just take a moment to admire Wong and Park’s onscreen chemistry? We know the trailer for only a few minutes long, but their characters’ chemistry is already real. That’s fitting because Always Be My Maybe explores the magic of maybe.

Complete with a play of Mariah Carey’s “Always Be My Baby,” this Netflix movie finds something special in the what ifs. Given the unfortunately evergreen terribleness in the news cycle, we’re thankful for this reprieve.

Always Be My Maybe debuts on Netflix on Friday, May 31.
