Newt Scamander is a fine character but why isn’t Tina Goldstein the lead

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them has always had Newt Scamander as their lead but maybe it’d be a bit more interesting with Tina Goldstein taking over next.

Newt Scamander is a fun character but he may not have been the best choice to lead Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. To me, Tina Goldstein is the kind of character who has the stamina, control, and knows what she’s trying to do with her life.

So to see a character like Newt, who is just focused on his creatures, lead the charge is a bit strange. Not in a bad way, but in a “why wasn’t Tina instantly the main character” kind of way. It’s just interesting that now, with the new series, we’re still having a male lead and female secondary characters.

It seems like it isn’t necessary in the modern age. Because, really, Hermione Granger was the star of the Harry Potter series, even though Harry got all the credit. Maybe it’s time to let a woman take charge, take over one of the series and just see what happens? Because really, when to break it down, it is a lot of men messing things up and women having to be there to pick up the pieces.

From Hermione to Tina and every woman in between, they’re there to try and help the male character succeed, something that none of us really need anymore and it is time for women to finally have a standing role in the Harry Potter series.

Would the series have been better if Tina was the lead? Or does it work with Newt being the one to try and stop Grindelwald? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
