The importance of women in fantasy fiction: Hermione Granger and McGonagall

We love powerful women in our fiction and Harry Potter had some of the best examples with characters like Hermione Granger and McGonagall and we should honor them.

Ladies like McGonagall and Hermione Granger were what made the Harry Potter series so special to a lot of us. They brought us a sense of belonging that we never really had before. So, why not honor their placement in the world of fantasy?

As of now, many of watched the most recent episode of Game of Thrones and watching as those strong female characters are being destroyed, it gives us a new sense of appreciation for Hermione, McGonagall, and the other women of the series.

Their characters were never completely ignored or ruined to fit into the male storyline, they continued to be true to themselves and cherished their own beliefs. I’m talking exclusively about the original Harry Potter franchise because I have my problems with Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

But with Hermione and the rest of the strong women of the original series, we were shown that we could be heroes and fight alongside the men. In fact, most the men respected the women more than their male counterparts and it was wonderful to see.

Women have always been an integral part of fantasy, whether it be as fans or in the series themselves, and we should start to honor them more. It isn’t fair for us to watch our favorites get completely destroyed.

Next. Tony Stark would have been a Gryffindor even though he should be a Ravenclaw. dark

The world of Harry Potter is complicated but sometimes we can look back on our favorite women who made the series so important and remember why we love them. Who is your favorite? Let us know in the comments below!
