Dolores Umbridge and Daenerys Targaryen: Who is more of madness embodied in a woman?
Well, we now know what has happened to Daenerys Targaryen so between her and Dolores Umbridge, who do you fear more out of the two characters? Who is scarier?
Daenerys Targaryen took on the role of the Mad Queen on last night’s Game of Thrones but how does she stand up against someone like Dolores Umbridge in fandom? For many of us, for years, we’ve been afraid of Umbridge and what she stands for. She is a woman who doesn’t care about the welfare of anyone else and just wants to support her own beliefs.
So what does that mean for anyone else in the Harry Potter series? Destruction. So, with Daenerys Targaryen, she isn’t that different. She began her quest for the Throne and constantly put others aside to claim what she believed was rightfully hers. She wanted King’s Landing because she believed that it was taken from her family.
Looking at both her and Umbridge, they’re honestly not that different. Feared, hidden behind a faux innocence. The two are just examples of the lengths with which people will go to villainize someone and what that means for those becoming the villain.
Dany has embraced being the Mad Queen and Umbridge was willingly a tyrant of Hogwarts. The two were not great examples of character growth but they were both women who were growing and learning and trying to find their own destiny.
Granted, it wasn’t the best kind of destiny but you get the point, they’re both scary.
