Game of Thrones season 8 episode 5: The best fan reactions on social media

The fifth episode of Game of Thrones’ final season was nothing short of intense, but did the internet love every moment of it?

Warning: This article contains spoilers for the fifth episode of Game of Thrones‘ eighth season.

If anybody was complaining about a slow or lackluster episode last time (or any point this season), let’s just hope they’re happy, because a lot went down on the penultimate episode of Game of Thrones Sunday night.

We got deaths on deaths on deaths. Some of them satisfying (cough, The Mountain), and some of them not so satisfying (cough, Cersei). But don’t let me talk for the episode. The internet had their own opinions about the night’s episode.

But before the bloodshed leading up to Cersei’s death in King’s Landing, the show started with one person we really knew was going to meet his end soon: Varys.

Unfortunately, through all this, Daenerys was looking a straight-up mess into her transition as the Mad Queen. We’re sorry they did this to you, Dany.

We got a bit of comic relief when Tyrion tried to speak Valyrian to the Unsullied. But that was pretty much the last laugh of the entire episode.

Then, Tyrion went to speak to locked-up Jaime Lannister to give him probably one of the worst plans on the planet. Jaime did admit he was the stupidest Lannister, so it makes sense that he went through with the plans.

Before long, everyone had arrived in King’s Landing, including BAMFs Arya and The Hound.

And despite everything, Daenerys and Drogon literally lit up the town. We stan a queen, but wow… there’s a limit to stanning, right?

Later, the moment we had all been waiting for happened: Cleganebowl!

So, this episode in a nutshell?

There were a lot of big moments packed into one episode of Game of Thrones. But between Daenerys becoming the Mad Queen and Cersei dying at nearly no one’s hand… how did Twitter feel about this overall? A bit meh.
