2. Tiana and Naveen

When Tiana joined the Disney Princess ranks, she was a breath of fresh air. She was so different than any of the other women, in the best way. She didn’t grow up in a palace, she grew up in a friendly neighborhood in New Orleans. She worked for everything she got, and never stopped.

Naturally, she would need someone strong to go toe-to-toe with. Tiana could be tough to get through to.  By all accounts, Prince Naveen should not have been the man for her, and yet they were a perfect match, because they brought out new and wonderful sides of each other.

Tiana challenged Naveen to work harder, and to not just expect things to be handed to him. She called him out for lying to her to get a kiss, and for his shallow motivations to marry Charlotte LaBouff. Tiana helped Naveen to dream big, to have something to strive towards.

On the flipside, Naveen brought out the fun, free spirit in Tiana. He encouraged her to laugh, and not take everything so seriously. Most importantly, he showed her that having a partner in crime makes a dream that much bigger.

Like Mama Odie told them, it’s not about what they want, it’s about what they need. Neither one pushed the other too far, or changed one too much. It was a smooth transition, one that happens naturally with a great relationship.

Tiana and Naveen might’ve taken the top spot on this list, if it wasn’t for the gold standard…
