Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD season 6 premiere preview: Welcome back

Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD returns for its sixth season! Scattered across the cosmos, with an impending Snappening, what’s going to happen first?

Welcome back to Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD! Season 5 ended with such a great finale that it seems hard to continue on after that.

Still, with how Agents of SHIELD has made things work in the past, I have all the faith in the world that it will make this work, too.

Here is the official synopsis for this week’s episode, “Missing Pieces,” courtesy of ABC:

"Scattered across the galaxy, the team works to find their footing in the wake of losing Coulson."

So… how long until this new Clark Gregg character shows up? Will it be revealed in this first episode? The trailer makes it look that way, but I honestly hope they wait an episode or two before revealing his character. Try to work some mystery into it, even though we already know he’s showing back up.

(Warning: Mild Spoilers For Endgame)

But more importantly… are we getting a time gap? How will the show deal with the Thanos snap from Infinity War? True, the writers can make it like they’re the original Avengers and everyone who’s part of the team survives, but that feels a little unreal. This team has gone through so much already. Do we have to see some of our compatriots get dusted?

If we don’t… do we just see a five-year time-jump to Endgame? Honestly, that might be the best option for Agents of SHIELD to take. After all–they were 90 years in the future last season. What would a five-year time jump really do?

It would help them get their act together, that’s for sure. We’d see a Director Mack who understands the role and supports his team. We’d see a stoic May, still as badass as ever. And we’d see a Daisy Johnson with honed powers, ready to kick some alien butt.

And maybe they’d be close to finding frozen Fitz at that point.

Plus, where the heck did Deke disappear to and how do they get him back? There are so many questions that Agents of SHIELD has to answer, and who knows where the show will start? Last season ended literal minutes before the Snappening. Do the writers brush past it? Will they take this first episode to recover from it and catch us up five years in the future?

You’ll have to tune in this week with me to see where this season 6 premiere takes us!
