10 Game of Thrones cocktails to get you through the final season

What better way to celebrate—or mourn—the final season of Game of Thrones than by making a Westeros-themed cocktail for the occasion?

Game of Thrones has always managed to spark controversy amongst its fans, but if there’s one thing that all of us can agree on, it’s this: We’ll all need a drink before the final season of the show is through. And what better way to celebrate—or mourn—the show’s final season than by making a Game of Thrones-themed cocktail for the occasion?

Here are 10 drinks, inspired by characters and scenes from Game of Thrones, that will help you get through the last few episodes of the show.

The White Walker

With the army of the dead arriving at Winterfell this season, there’s no drink more appropriate than a White Walker cocktail. After all, the Night King and his forces looked like they’d be taking out more than they actually did at Winterfell. At least drinking making one of these will alleviate the pain a little bit.

The White Walker cocktail is far more visually appealing than the actual White Walkers, and it’s much sweeter too. A mix of vodka, vanilla ice cream, white chocolate liqueur, and blue curacao, it’s the perfect recipe for someone who was built up and then taken out pretty easily. Let’s just not talk about it.

Wildfire Cocktail

Let’s return to happier times, like the Battle of the Blackwater or that time that Cersei blew the Sept of Baelor to smithereens. Yes, sadly, those qualify as happier times. And this Wildfire Cocktail will transport fans back there—and back to when we still had plenty of episodes to enjoy.

The Wildfire Cocktail is easy to make, but the creator of the recipe warns that it’s potent. Mixing Midori, watermelon vodka, and regular vodka together will do the trick. But you’ll want to use a heat resistant glass if you really want the wildfire effect…because yes, you get to light this drink on fire before taking a sip! As Hot Pie would put it, “boom.”

The Red Woman

Though the Red Woman hasn’t had as much of an impact on season 8 as we thought, appearing in episode 3 only to die at the end, that doesn’t mean we can’t have a drink in her honor. The Red Woman cocktail is a good choice for anyone looking for a delicious drink to try out. And you don’t even need to worship the Lord of Light to enjoy it.

To make the Red Woman, just combine cherry vodka, Silver tequila, Fireball, Grenadine, pineapple juice, and Simple syrup and put it on ice. You can use silver sanding sugar to coat the rim of the glass, especially if you’re planning on Instagramming #forthethrone.

The Prince That Was Promised

Or should we say The Drink That Was Promised? Now that‘s a prophecy fans can get behind, especially with all the torment this show has put us through. If the Lord of Light ensured us that we’d get a good cocktail at the end of it all, that would be far more comforting than prophesying a guy with a flaming sword…especially since there’s no guarantee that guy will even be able to save Westeros from the Night King.

The Prince That Was Promised is made with Honey Bourbon, lime juice, ginger beer, red currant syrup. Pour these ingredients on ice, add some garnish in the form of a lime and brown sugar, and you’ve got yourself your own personal Azor Ahai. Who knew it was that simple?

Mother of Dragons

What do dragons eat, anyway? Well, we aren’t sure about all that, but they probably drink the Mother of Dragons cocktail when they head out for a night on the town.

The Mother of Dragons is easy to make. Just add three balls of dragon fruit to a glass of rosé champagne and enjoy. Who knows? If you’re a secret Targaryen like Jon, maybe the dragon fruit will transform into three actual dragons by the time you’re finished sipping.

Sansa’s Lemon Cake Martinis

Sure, the naive girl who loved lemon cakes may be a distant memory on Game of Thrones, but that doesn’t mean viewers can’t toast to Sansa’s newfound independence—and sass—with a drink inspired by her favorite dessert.

And Sansa’s Lemon Cake Martinis are basically a dessert in and of themselves. Not only does the recipe feature a lemon-cake garnish around the rim of the martini glass, but the drink itself contains lemon vodka, lemon juice, and simple syrup.

Blood of My Blood

There is no word for cocktail in Dothraki, but that doesn’t mean we can’t name one after their customs. The Blood of My Blood is a fruity concoction that’s perfect for fans of wine or sangria. Just, be warned: It might make you miss Khal Drogo all over again.

To make the Blood of My Blood, simply mix a red wine of your choosing with an ounce of Triple Sec and some blood orange soda. You can throw an orange peel in there for aesthetic, too, and even add a plastic sword if you’re feeling really inspired.

The Imp

It just wouldn’t be right to have a list of Game of Thrones cocktails without at least one of them being named after Tyrion Lannister. After all, he can probably drink all of us under the table…twice. Of course, he probably wouldn’t be thrilled that the cocktail in question is called The Imp. (We suppose it’s better than the Demon Monkey, however.)

Fittingly, the recipe recommends drinking The Imp out of a mini beer mug that would make Tyrion proud. The drink itself contains vodka, fresh lemon juice, lemongrass syrup, and sugar on the rim.

Three-Eyed Raven

Bran makes some pretty bizarre statements now that he’s officially the Three-Eyed Raven, but perhaps he’s just been sipping on this Three-Eyed Raven cocktail a little too often…

The Three-Eyed Raven is less visually appealing than the other options on this list, but it makes a nice drink for fans who don’t want sweet, dessert-like cocktails while they watch. It’s made up of gin or vodka, black water, dry vermouth, and olive brine. Use three olives for garnish, especially if you want the drink to resemble a three-eyed raven.

Valar Morghulis

All men must die, and plenty of them will during this season of Game of Thrones. We’re definitely going to be toasting to a few fallen heroes before the last few episodes are through, and a Valar Morghulis cocktail is just the drink to use for the occasion.

The Valar Morghulis consists of tequila, Grenadine, blue curacao, lime juice, and club soda…along with a slice of lime, a slice of orange, and some blueberries for garnish. If all men must die, at least they can enjoy a delicious fruity drink first, right?
