Fan Expo Dallas: Mike Colter shares his Game of Thrones theories
Game of Thrones has infiltrated many aspects of pop culture. And at Fan Expo Dallas, Mike Colter shared his thoughts and theories about the show.
When it comes to Game of Thrones, it probably comes as no surprise that there are fans within the entertainment industry as well. Considering how truly engaging the show is for so many people, it makes sense that celebrities like Leslie Jones would tweet about the series or Mike Colter would bring it up during a panel at a convention. So of course, when we get the chance to hear our favorite people talking about Game of Thrones, we listen.
And at Fan Expo Dallas, the moderator for Colter’s fan Q&A actually brought up the fact that the actor is a fan of the show. This led to a short discussion in which Mike Colter gave his own theories for how Game of Thrones ends and his take on the Battle of Winterfell.
At the time of the panel, the fourth episode of the final season had yet to air, which could impact the way the actor looks at the potential end of the series. However, Colter said that he believes that there are just some characters that everyone feels will be there in the end, who really won’t die.
The actor’s first survivor is none other than the Mother of Dragons, Daenerys, who he thinks will still be “standing when all is said and done.” And perhaps standing next to her will be the other character he thinks will survive, Jon Snow. Colter said he doesn’t really think Jon will be one of the characters who dies (and considering his history of actually coming back from the dead, we wouldn’t be surprised if he was right).
Beyond touching on who he thinks will still be alive when Game of Thrones ends its run, Mike Colter brought up the Battle of Winterfell. And after asking people in the audience if they had seen the most recent episode (at that point), he promised not to spoil anything. However, he said he feels that was a “long battle” but his preference was actually for the Battle of the Bastards, which he called epic.
In regards to the Battle of Winterfell, Colter said he thinks “this battle had too many pieces to it.” It was hard to figure out for him “who was fighting who,” and it was just a lot of moving parts. Essentially it was a lot happening, but in a way that could get confusing and perhaps even convoluted.
And clearly Mike Colter was not alone in feeling what some fans describe as being a sense of dissatisfaction with the episode and the battle as a whole. But, hopefully the final episodes are a chance at redemption for the series.
There is still a lot that has to happen before the show wraps up, so there is a chance that not only will the actor be right in his thoughts on who will survive, but also that the show will give us one more epic battle in line with the Battle of the Bastards.
